Blog2021 ≫ Runuary day seven

Up middlingly early today, and a quick 5km round Hythe. Not up early enough really as I just got back at ten to nine, then a quick shower and grab a coffee and only two minutes late for work. Still that's another day ticked off. It was very cold out there today, but at least not wet. I'm nearly a quarter of the way through runuary, and so also dryanuary.

Amazing scenes from the USA yesterday, we watched a lot of it live on BBC News. Trump definitely stirred up those supporters to riot in that way. Amazing there were only four deaths (following the storming of the Capitol building), imagine if they'd been left wing protestors, there's no way the police and security would have rolled over like that. I'm glad it is coming out that they were not just concerned citizens, there were a lot proper loonatic followers of the hilariously bad qanon internet story. The closer you look at the footage there were some proper actual nazis there too. I'm glad this story is nearly over. Amazing that the last time something like this happened there it was the war of independence a couple of centuries ago.

Got a video call with the guys this evening, we're trying a new thing, Signal. At least we have plenty to talk about. Whatsapp just changed all their permissions to say "yeah facebook owns this so if you keep using it facebook owns you too". We weren't really using whatsapp for video calls anyway but as this does it we're giving it a go. It might work out better for keeping in touch than Slack too.

Kwikfit came to replace the tyre on the Hyundai today, he crept in and out without any contact at all like a ghost. Well, no contact apart from a phone call to say "leave the car unlocked, do you have locking wheel nuts?". I don't know if we have locking wheel nuts or not. There was a bag of wheel nuts in the glove box, I think these were the non locking ones, and the key for the locking ones which were on the wheels. We left it all on the seat, and he was in and out in maybe ten minutes? We don't really know, we didn't see him. We just worked out his window of opportunity like it was part of a crime drama. Speaking of a robbery, it was £120. Clare paid.

Speaking of crime drama the new series of Death In Paradise starts tonight. Lots of old faces back again somehow, it can only be flashbacks and dreams. I will miss it because of this call, but will catch up after.

Been a good day for the shares, and it's pay day tomorrow.
