Blog2020 ≫ First week of work has gone well

That's a full week done in the new job, and I think it's going well. I've done some actual work and made some contributions already, as well as all the inductions and training and things I've had to do. Still got more training to do, they're very good about that.

The work I did cannot go live yet as there is a code freeze as a result of something the team did. We'd call it an expedite in the old job. I was not directly involved in it but did observe the resolution of it and took part in post mortem after. It's a nice team there, doesn't seem to be any of the point scoring in these situations that I had seen in another job...

As a result of suddenly working full time again I've not really found the time for running, but on Friday I did go on the treadmill at lunchtime. I was going to try and go out for a run on Thursday but did that thing for the school, and then the same on Friday but just didn't think I'd have time to go out.

I did run today, meant to do 10k but then my knee started playing up half way round. Thought I'd better stop in case it got worse, so had to walk back from West Hythe. Thinking about it the knee started twinging (or is it twingeing?) only after I'd stopped on the bridge to take a photo. The last time I tried and failed to do a 10k was when I ran as far as the Harbour Arm lighthouse and stopped again for a photo and struggled to restart. The lesson here is do not stop for a photo opportunity, just keep running.

I have signed up for the Folkestone Coastal 10k1. It's not until May, but Clare let slip she had signed up for it so I had to too. I have not done this one before as they have a "no headphones" rule, which I don't fancy really.

10k: Ten km, about six miles in old money. Sometimes talking about 10,000 steps though, an arbitrary daily step count target.
