Blog โ‰ซ 2020 โ‰ซ Running with a pace setter today went as well as expected

Thing one has an inset day today, an extra day off, his half term break has started already. I think they don't even call it half term any more, there are six terms in the year now and he has finished the first one. He showed some interest in coming to the library to choose some new books, so I thought I'd run there and he'd ride his bike and we kill several birds with one stone. He could not keep up with me, so I had to keep stopping and going back to check on him. My first bit of the run towards Sandgate (admittedly the wrong direction, but necessary to make it up to 5km) was at a belting pace, 4'00/km and I might have been on for a personal best. But the stopping and starting ruined this, bah. We did not make it as far as the library, we gave up and came home again.

Now we're going to Ashford to the outlet centre, not really for anything in particular. If we dawdle on the way there I think I can get them to drop me in Hythe on the way back. I can pick up my bottle of beer from the Hythe Hops project (actually made with the hops that I completely failed to grow) and then walk back via the Potting Shed, and then on to the Inn Doors. Will make for a lovely afternoon, then back here for dinner.

My last but one Friday off before starting the new job...

Absolutely amazing what is going on on https://twitter.com/[MarcusRashford](/wiki/#ashford) today, people around the country are stepping up to provide free food over half term. I've given to https://fareshare.org.uk/ but I'm doing an extra food bank shop today too.

One minor gig anniversary today, Electric Six and The Crimea at The Barfly this day in 2002. Danger! High Voltage! Etc!
