Blog2020 ≫ A seal, a dolphin, and a lot of water

The rain finally came then. But let me catch up first.

Yesterday afternoon we needed to go to Sandgate to post some things (including the boys' applications for Blue Peter sports badges), so we all walked together. On the way there we saw a seal swimming in the sea. Very cool! I had heard they'd been spotted in the area but this is the first time I've seen one round here.

After posting our letters we stopped in The Clarendon for our now daily ritual of two pints, a J2O, a diet coke, and a game of top trumps.

Just time to get home from the Clarendon, put a vegan pizza in the oven, eat it while it's too hot burning my mouth, and head out to the pub again. Back to the Inn Doors. Planned to go on a mini crawl from there back towards Seabrook, but it was so good in the Inn Doors we stayed there.

This morning the rain came here in earnest. Not sure what time it started but it was raining at the time I'd planned to go out for a run, so I snoozed the alarm. It did eventually stop and seemed quite nice out so I did a 5k to Hythe and back. A bit slower than my best but I really had planned it to be even slower than that. I have just one pace really and my legs go on automatic. There were a lot of people swimming in the sea and some setting up on the beach for another sunny day.

We went to Canterbury for lunch, shopping, and exchanging. Lunch was at The Dolphin, not been there for a while, it used to be a regular haunt. We sat in the garden to start with, but then the heavy rain came to Canterbury. Everyone had to sprint in from the garden, luckily a) our food had not arrived yet and b) there were tables inside. Saw a loto of people trying to keep the rain off their plates as they rushed back inside. Our food was really good, Clare and I shared a vegan burger and vegan gyros (grilled vegetables in a flat bread) and the boys shared an adult cajun chicken burger, as they don't do child portions.

Was still raining a bit when we left their to start our shopping but then it came down in earnest, don't remember when I last saw so much rain. We were in t-shirts and shorts because we are idiots and don't plan ahead.. Not much to be done by this stage so we stayed went, finished our shopping and came home.

A quiet evening in now, going to watch Total Wipeout with the boys.
