Blog2020 ≫ Febrewery day fourteen valentines special

Valentines day off, I still have some holiday left to use by the end of the month. Got my hair cut in Hythe and then a cheeky pre-lunch pint in the Red Lion, Hythe. Haven't been in here for years but it is OK. Was only one other daytime drinker in there, arguing with his energy provider over the phone about a new payment card. He was impressed with the USB charging points built into the Guiness pump, and so am I. First saw this in Harvey's the other day and forgot to mention it. They've had them for about a year apparently. I did not have Guiness I had a Young's, though they also had Harvey's (no connection between Harvey's the pub and Harvey's the brewery).

I was on my bike so plenty of time, I cycled back to Sandgate to meet Clare for lunch in Loaf again. It was super busy, but not with valentines couples really was just a popular time to be there. Was far busier than the previous Friday. They didn't have the same sandwich I had last week, it is gone from their menu, so I had avocado and beans on toast. We didn't hang about as we were keen to go and play pool again in the Royal Norfolk. Shame there are so few pool tables around, I could not tick this repeating pub off my list. I only had a shandy here, thrashed Clare at pool again five - one, and biked back to school.

We had a PTA cake sale at school and I was luckily just in time to help out... the boys got cakes and doughnuts and then home.

We had some things to pack ready for London the next morning, so sorted that then decided to go on a wild pub adventure to Dymchurch. Slow bus there, did I just miss one? Or were the times wrong?

Called my workmate Steve on the way as he lives nearby and he was free so joined me at The Hidden Treasure, Dymchurch's micropub. It's really good, quite a bit bigger than the Inn Doors as they have another room through the back. Three ales on and some complementary very spicy chilli nuts. We had two in here then went on to The Ocean. A big pub, pool table, lots of locals, but a bad pint of cider, shame. I didn't finish it, and then ran for the bus, which I thought I was in time for. Same just-missed-it issue on the way back, so a bit of hanging around eating chips. This is why I don't get the bus, if you don't time it right, or they're late, it's annoying.
