Blog2019 ≫ Richard Osman's world cup of the decade

So another decade is just about upon us. Was looking forward to this round up TV show, I thought it was going to replace "quiz of the year" but no, we got both.

I have two reviews of this show, my first that I spewed to my friends on slack:

Really enjoyed Richard Osman's world cup of the decade EXCEPT for the choice of content. When they got down to the final 8 songs or films of the decade, I knew none of them. If it was best film or song of the 80s these pretenders would be nowhere. It is not that I am an old git, it is that modern life is rubbish. Drake and Mark Ronson vs the Stone Roses and the Cure? GET IN THE SEA!

Reflecting calmly on it later (and without a belly full of cider following a lovely late afternoon in the Inn Doors) it is possibly not that the music of the decade was much worse, it is that people can't be trusted with voting and it's easier to see genius from a distance. If this programme had been on in 1989 it would likely have been Bros and Rick Astley in the final.

I also enjoyed Limehouse Golem, did I say that? I had that sussed though from very early on.

Today has been a lazy day off for me, and a hectic work one for Clare. The boys and I went into Folkestone on the bus and bought some things for tea. Also a christmas decoration that we were quite keen on when we saw it in the pub, but now I have it home I'm not so sure...

A quiet night in tonight, then work for me tomorrow, then another night out tomorrow, guess where..? Yes the Inn Doors again!

After that no more drinking for a month. It'll be fine.

UPDATE: I didn't mention yesterday, that was nice, we were both off and dragged the boys out of the house. We scooted and biked to the park in Sandgate1 without too many complaints, and played football and Ninja Warrior assault course. Saw a lot of squirrels on the way, as we walked through the Saga grounds on the way. That little bit of park that I think is part of the Saga grounds anyway. Some good exercise for the day. Then we tried to go in Orchard Lane on the way back for a treat, but it was too busy and we couldn't sit down. So we had to go to the Inn Doors, oh no!
