Blog2019 ≫ Annual meal out at the Old Mill

Woke up early to do Junior Parkrun yesterday, but it was raining hard, so went back to bed. I wouldn't mind if it was just for me but don't want to put the boys off this exercise hobby at this early stage.

Lunch was a meal out at the Old Mill in Ashford. Today is Pauline's fifth anniversary, and we go for a meal at this time. Quite a lot of us there this time, more of the younger generation. Her sister has stopped coming to this one, but cousins and nieces and nieces boyfriends did this time so probably twenty of us. Food was a set menu, though with vegan options. Portions were enormous, no-one needed this much food. I ate about half of mine but have still gained three pounds in one day, I'm up about five pounds over this week. Why pounds and not kilos? Because Clare likes our bathroom digital scales set on stones and pounds for some reason.

Coincidentally five pounds is the weight of the pork pie that landlord Gary was proudly showing round the Inn Doors this weekend. It will make part of his christmas feast. I've been in the pub three times this weekend, awesome, it's such a friendly crowd. I had three brief trips there this weekend, hoping to make one more christmas eve. Then maybe boxing day too?

Working today but from home. Should be a quiet one, we've been told not to put any work live unless necessary. I have one that I think is necessary I will do nice and early and then slow right down. Will write documentation and tidy things up.

Already been to the tip before work this morning to try and get ahead of the game with festive recycling.

Our big festive food shop is arriving at the end of the day, got an email from Sainsburys about FIVE substitutes they have made, including swapping the vegan friendly christmas pud for some caramel chocolate fiasco! So some last minute food shopping in order.

Christmas just arrived I think! I got a special signed for delivery, so that must be the new Garmin watch. Not even going to unwrap the parcel until the day for a bit of added excitement. If it turns out to be only a usb lead or something in there, that will be disappointing...
