Blog2019 ≫ And so the step count starts to slide...

Monday was a really busy day in the end. An issue to investigate most of the day, this made me late for lunch, then a meeting I'd forgotten about took care of lunch, then back to that issue. Then PTA AGM at the school after that! By the time I got back the boys were going to bed.

I did do one school run and then the PTA meeting. I was determined not to have my name put down for anything at that, but have ended up as co-chair, hmm. We have some good plans for the year, not sure the chair really has to do much. I'll have to do half of not much now as I'm sharing it.

I ended the day on about 5000 steps, and thought this is a good day to stop worrying about hitting this made up target every day. I know I'm getting enough exercise.

The busy day means I have banked about an hour so will be good for getting away early Friday. Great South Run this week, and I don't mind announcing it in advance as a) the house is not empty, Clare is not coming and b) oh I already banged on about it a bit didn't I? So if you're using this blog to trace my movements you've already had that one.

Getting a bit nervous about the run. For one there are practicalities I had not considered. Getting into Southsea for one, the roads will be problematic. Can I drive there early? This would be good as this leads on to my next problem; leaving my stuff. If I get the train or the bus down there, basically in my vest and pants, it's likely to be cold and wet. If I take a coat, where can I leave it? I need to read more of the run info pack as it does say "why not get something from a charity shop that you can afford to lose?". It also says "eat a high carb low fibre breakfast 2 hours before". I never have such a thing I normally run on an empty stomach to avoid a stitch. Then when I do eat I never have anything that is high carbs and low fibre, what is that? Greggs vegan sausage roll I suppose!

I'm not doing any big runs this week, I'm "tapering" apparently. I say just resting, letting my legs recover from all the practice runs I have done.
