Blog2019 ≫ Took today's parkrun too seriously

Went to the Inn Doors last night for 5pm, but really paced myself. Had a few Gadd's Number 11, a super low alcohol beer. It's not alcohol free, but only 1.25%, so five pints of that would be about one of the Bushells cider I sometimes have. And it doesn't even come in pints, it's in a can which is not much more than a half. I mixed this up and did have two and a half pints of other beer, but this is basically a night of abstention on a Friday for me. And it paid off...

Today's parkrun time was 21'36 - annoyingly still not beat Jules' time which I think is 21'35, but I have to pleased with a new pb. Clare and the boys were there to watch me, though both times I ran past where they were meant to be waiting they were queueing up in the cafe. They were there to see me cross the line though AND get a medal! My first medal! OK, everyone got a medal this week to celebrate it being the fifth anniversary of Folkestone parkrun1. There were also cakes, so the boys tucked in. Lots of visitors this week too I think, a near record attendance of 323 runners (their best is 340). So my position of 23 is all the more impressive, though it looks like some familiar names were missing from the top. Holidays maybe.

After this Clare headed on the train to Stratford, and we took thing two round a friend's house to play, and thing one and I went to play tennis. We rode to the free court in Sandgate, and it was available so we had a good knockabout. Then to Orchard Lane for lunch, including a vegan bounty for me. Very nice but the vegan snickers is better I think.

We've collected thing two again and I'm giving them a breather before we cycle again, in to Hythe this time. Thing one left his bag at the tennis courts there, so we need to fetch it. Then back, probably to play video games and watch Top Gear dvds.
