Blog2019 ≫ Gone gull

The seagull wasn't making much progress in learning to fly from our back garden. It was tapping on the back door while I was trying to work and not finding its way out of the garden. It didn't eat the food I threw out and each time I put a bowl of water out it knocked it over. I could see the parent was out the front, with the other baby who had also made it out of the nest but without actually being able to fly. I shoed "our one" down the side passage so it could meet up with its family, but it mostly just stood at the top of the steps looking through the gate. Eventually it must have worked its way down there as I saw them all together out the front of the house. When the storm came last night though I think the parent left the two babies on the lawn, that's the last place I saw them. No sign of any of them this morning, so hopefully they learned to fly away...
