Blog2019 ≫ New chilli box

Pay day coincides nicely with the new delivery from Flaming Licks, it's a doubly good time of the month. This month in my box I got some "satan's gravy" chilli sauce, naga chilli jam, chilli and fennel nuts, and some chilli syrup barbecue glaze that I am unlikely to use. Still it's nice getting something in the post. I already ate the nuts. The syrup says it is good on pancakes, I will try and use it somehow. I may glaze some peppers or something.

Clare made an awesome dinner this week, the "vegan jerk tray bake" that Mum cut out of a magazine. Was very good, seemed to be quite easy, and now we have the jerk paste we will make it again. The recipe card with my Flaming Licks box is also vegan this month, a spicy plantain stew so I will give that a go.

As it is pay day I have splashed out wildly. I bought a new super small and lightweight travel wash bag1 ready for my holiday, because I am a super lightweight traveller and I need all the gear. Only thing is it is not actually much smaller than my old washbag that I am replacing. Maybe about 1cm in it. I thought it would pack down smaller. I would properly mock Clare if she made a shopping error like this. I only want something that will keep my toothbrush clean and put a few minimal items in, plus hang up as an instant bathroom cabinet when I am out on the trails... This was the other one I was considering1 but it's no smaller or lighter. I wonder if there is a solution out there, I think not. I was hoping to find one that would fit in a big pocket for when I'm travelling superlight-no-bag to Mum and Dad's via the pubs and things. But no. I will keep this one, it is new and clean and the old one is in daily use as I have no room in the actual bathroom cabinet for some reason...

In other shopping news I bought books for the boys, which we're saving for the holiday, and a big box of Nespresso pods that should see us for a while.

There is an awards ceremony of sorts at work today. I have not been nominated.
