I've been running an "expedite" at work this morning. This is what we call it when there's an issue serious enough to stop bookings being made. Normally I'm causing these but today I was the only one who thought the issue we were having (not caused by me) was serious enough to shout about. It's a novelty to be in one of these that is not my fault, but it will mean lots of admin for me.
Pay day today, but we didn't get a payslip this month - we got a total reward benefit statement instead... I am back in the black again, but we have pre-holiday shopping, and thing one's birthday to sort out of this one. I think I already saved holiday spending money but I have no doubt enormously underestimated. This next holiday is a bit of a one off so it's hard to tell what we will need. I have treated myself to a new wash bag for the occasion 1 though and I do want some flip flops or something. I'm hoping for some utility survival type ones that have hidden phone pocket and transform into a machete or something.
Yesterday's World War II workshop at school went OK BUT he did not hand in or read out the letter from my Nan about being an evacuee. I hope he has not missed his chance here to contribute something interesting, relevant, and first hand to this topic.
PTA meeting last night. We made plans for the boot fair, everyone is worried about various things including crime, no-one has done an event like this before, some have not even attended one. I've been to loads! I have to be there at 6am on a Sunday morning waving cars. It should raise two grand for the school if it is a nice day so should be worthwhile.
Still not done any more work on the shed, but I had a look at it yesterday while playing some basketball in the garden and it's holding up well. I am shamed by Dave who seems to have built an awesome summerhouse in the same time.
Whale with harness could be Russian weapon, say Norwegian experts
"Fisherman raised alarm after white whale sporting unusual strapping began harassing their boats". I do like the phrase "unusual strapping" and will try and drop it into conversation.
On an invasive wildlife tip, seagulls ripped our bin open this morning looking for food. The lid got broken off a couple of weeks ago and they can get in, so they have strewn rubbish on my drive while it was out for collection... I have ordered a new bin, hopefully I won't have to pay for it. I got a new food waste bin when a similar thing happened.
