Blog2019 ≫ Lunch at the Gatekeeper

Had an easter family lunch at the Gatekeeper in Etchinghill. Was going to be a bit of a mystery for me as I did not phone ahead to warn them of my special needs. Surely I don't have to these days? It was fine they had a vegan pie on the menu, with vegetables. No potatoes for me though and nothing to replace them. Everyone else had quite full plates plus extra dishes of cauliflower cheese but mine was a bit measly I think. Thing one had the adult sized burger, and thing two had child sized chicken and chips, Clare had a roast dinner but with a quinoa stuff pepper. They covered it in gravy which stopped me helping her out there, she had a lot more on her plate than I did. Also while I'm complaining the pie didn't really taste of very much.

It looks like a really nice pub, they had four real ales on and a few real ciders, but I wonder how welcoming it is for those only drinking. If it as my local I'd be pleased, and try and find a way to fit in, but it's not worth heading out to Etchinghill for.

All in all a nice meal experience with our group though, everyone had a good time.
