Blog2019 ≫ A work sabbatical - nearly

An exciting update from work this morning to cheer us up on Blue Monday - everyone who has been at Holiday Extras for more than two years can take a month off (unpaid) to go out and achieve their dream or something. And better, everyone who has been there for ten years can take that month off paid! And then you get this again when you've been here fifteen years, and twenty years, and every five years, sounds awesome.

Still waiting for clarification of the final details, as I have been there twelve years and it's possibly not backdated. So I don't get it now, though someone who has been here slightly less time than me will get it. I may have to wait until I've been here fifteen years. I'm not sure I've got that much work left in me.

Also to get this you have to give three months notice, AND arrange cover for your work without it costing the business. Talk someone else in another team into doing your job too? So basically you have to say "hey I am expendable in three months time". I'M NOT FALLING FOR THAT ONE!

UPDATE they have confirmed it is not backdated, so I would not benefit until 2022. If I'm still there I can do something awesome for my 50th birthday...

They also announced more holiday for new starters (though this is brand new customers only) and the option to work from another location for two weeks of the year. This sounds great for people with a holiday home, though can't see this working for me as it would be at my own expense.

Today has been another rollercoaster of a day, from WAHEY, to, oh, no, not me this time.
