Blog2017 ≫ Overnight in Slough

My thoughts and experiences of our overnight stay at a Holiday Inn in Slough as part of our Legoland trip. Was about 200 cheaper to stay here than to stay on site in Legoland it's only about 10 minutes down the road. But then, we were in Slough. Not even in Slough itself but in Chalvey on the outskirts.

We ate at the Holiday Inn itself as the menu looked ok for us, and there were really no options nearby. We did look for nearby pubs and restaurants, hoping we'd pass a friendly chain, but there were none on the route. I tried for nearby family friendly pubs with food on whatpub.com1 and found likely looking ones sort of nearby but we decided it was not worth risking. Food was good, drinks a bit expensive though.

We did our regular hotel swap around, I put little one to bed while the others waited in hotel bar playing table football, then when he was asleep we swapped. I walked and walked trying to find a nearby pub but they were further than I thought... finally came across The Moon and Spoon, a big old Wetherspoons. I looked in another nearby but I could see from the door they had no ale or real cider on so I just went back to the hotel again.

Breakfast was good, I have put some weight on this week. No exactly looking forward to going back to the diet this week, but I'm not feeling better for having missed it.
