Blog2016 ≫ Next step for page speed I can remove even more messing about

I'm greatly interested in page speed, optimising this site as much as I can, it's a great skill for work too. I've been compromising on speed slightly for what I thought were good seo skills (search engine optimisation), but now my seo rankings are off the boil I think my old seo skills are out of date. For years I have been making text bold on the site and then taking those bold text items and making them links back to search for content within this site, like a wiki. I did this as it made the source of the page quite small, by fixing up all the links later it felt cleaner. Now I think it's not so I'm going to risk changing that and making them all honest links again. It'll make a small difference to visitors to the site, it'll speed it up a bit.

If this word here -> bold is not a link to anything, then it looks like I've already made the change...

I wonder if it'll make a difference to my seo rankings? It can only go up. I used to get lots of traffic and lots of people posting things here, but not for a long time. Today's teaser about the Vokes family is the first interaction for a while.

Having only twitter authentication for posts is a problem too, that must put people off, but it saves me having to worry about too much spam or maintaining my own login / authentication.

So we'll see what happens. Will change the links first and maybe the authentication later...
