I was working at Portsmouth Uni at the time, but it was as a result of doing the fanzine and a little website on a long gone subdomain of portsmouth.ac.uk that I got in free. Strangelove are still going I think. Support from Whipping Boy and also Sun. I saw them later when they'd changed their name to Silver Sun and had a bit of success. This seemed important for a while, but less so now.
