I was wrong, Laurel and Hardy didn't open the RHDR light railway

FG ≫ 2016 ≫ I was wrong, Laurel and Hardy didn't open the RHDR light railway

They reopened it, at it's 21st birthday in 1947. There's fantastic footage of it here:

Saw a mention of it in this week's Folkestone Herald. I always believed they did the official opening of it, though never thought to look it up...

This is part of my site The 'Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when I first came here sometime in 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while before that but I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get nowadays. This site was updated more frequently with a calendar of events and voting for best venues + things, + I know it was a useful reference for others who were thinking of moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though just to Hythe) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is becoming the exciting place we always thought it was just about to. My name is not Gerald by the way, this comes from the name of a fake paper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, + how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do contact me if you have something to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on the twitter.
