Leas Cliff Pavilion - might that be Folkestone's Marine Pavilion?

FG ≫ 2016 ≫ Leas Cliff Pavilion - might that be Folkestone's Marine Pavilion?

Just looking for mentions of Marine Pavilion in my archives, now I see it is about to be demolished1. That's the Parisienne / Grizzly Den / Bonkers nightclub of course, more recently known as Onyx (though not by anyone that I've ever spoken to).

Every time I saw mentions of gigs at Folkestone Pavilion I though it was that place up Wear Bay Road of that name, but of course it is more likely to have been the night club that I now know was known as Marine Pavilion.

Cheerio anyway rubbish nightclub. I went there about ten years ago, it was not very good and will not be missed.

This is part of my website The Folkestone Gerald that I built in a fury of excitement when I first came to Folkestone in approximately 2004. I had been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that but I am technically one of those DFLs you get nowadays. This site was updated more frequently with a calendar of events + voting for best venues and things, + I hear it was a useful resource for those who were thinking of moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though just to Hythe) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was just about to. My name is not Gerald by the way, the name comes from a pretend newspaper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, + how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do get in touch if you have something to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on the twitter.
