Blog2015 ≫ Scary ride home

I think I had a couple of hours spare on Saturday, so as a special treat for myself, I went to the pub. I say "I think" I had a couple of hours spare, I didn't really I could have been making the boys eat their dinner or something, but I felt indulgent, and Clare agreed... so I headed to the Potting Shed in Hythe again, haven't been since it opened, and I'm glad I did, it was great. Fell into conversation with some other real ale drinkers and it was lovely, wish I had the time to do it more often.

I rode my bike there. Part of the reason for going was to get a bit more exercise, and I was going to walk, but thought I'd save some time. Did not really think about how it was about to get dark, and I'd have to get home again. Don't have any lights. So I rode back along the canal path in the pitch black, really could not see a thing. There was a moon, just about full too, but with all the overhanging trees I could only just about make out the difference between the path and the edge of the path. Could have been nasty, but I just about got home in one piece.
