Blog2014 ≫ Clare is at the opera AGAIN

That is twice she's been to the opera now, in the space of only thirty-six years. She is basically constantly at the opera. She's gone, but her dad has not, Pauline is not well enough to be left alone today. Her sister who was going to sit in with her has now changed her mind. They did not want me and the boys to take over, we'd be more of a hinderance than a help I suspect.

Our plans at home have changed too. We went to gymnastics but Number one son became ill when we were getting changed, hot and sick and has a headache, so we've come out again. We've also cancelled our afternoon NCT christmas party for this reason. Poor number one son is asleep on the sofa right now. I checked him for other symptoms like a rash and he's ok, so I've given him calpol and letting him sleep.

Number two son has now not had a nap so he might be difficult today.

I hope number one son feels better after a sleep. Clare is not back until tonight, it's a long old show:

Running time

The performance lasts for about 4 hours 55 minutes. Act I lasts for approximately 83 minutes, followed by a 30 minute interval. Act II lasts for approximately 80 minutes followed by a 35 minute interval and Act III lasts for approximately 80 minutes.

Sung in German with English surtitles

Phew I have not missed out completely, it's on Radio 3 at 17:45 on 29th December...
