Blog2014 ≫ Solar powered raspberry pi on hold again

I just connected my raspberry pi with the camera up to the battery, and there is just not enough power to power it up. The battery is probably a bit knackered. I will try again when it's fully charged by the solar panel tomorrow. At least I've not fried anything, the pi still powers up. The battery on its own is providing ~5V but when I connect the UBEC this goes down to about 0.5v for some reason. When I tried it the other day the battery was about 6V and with the UBEC this was a nice 5V. The UBEC does not like the voltage going to low I guess, that's probably the point of it, to regulate this, a jump straight from "the right voltage" to (almost) "no voltage".

I hope we have enough sun tomorrow to power the solar panel, we had a little bit of glastonbury over earlier. Speaking of which, time to watch Metallica on the TV!

raspberry pi: Credit card sized super cheap computer, awesome.
