Blog2014 ≫ Had a lovely weekend btw

Spent the weekend without Clare! This was not why it was lovely at all, that's not what I'm saying! Clare had to work, and I wanted to go visit my Nan who has been in hospital, so I took the boys down there to visit and left poor Clare all on her lonesome for the weekend.

The drive down wasn't great, thought it would be super fast now the previous sticking point of the M25 is clear again, but there was somethign going on round Guildford, so still took us a while to get there. At least we don't have to stop on the way these days, so it's still a good run. Got there in time to go to Portchester Gala at Portchester Castle before going to visit Nan, a few interesting bits and pieces there, a lovely split screen VW camper in the show section and a few old Land Rovers and some traditional woodworking. The food was bad, it always seems a real shame to me when you have a potentially nice event like this and they hand over the catering to disgusting chip vans. The weather was super hot though, really really hot, hottest we have had all year. The boys had a nice run around, and I bought some hazel stakes and pegs for the garden, and we headed off to the hospital to see my Nan. She's doing good, and since the visit she's had her pacemaker op, and I'm waiting to hear what happens next.

Had a nice night in with the family, we got a curry and chatted, and had an early night really. The boys did well seeing as they slept in the same room for the first time. number two son was a bit unsettled at first, and then he wasn't really helped by Number one son's singing, but they were both tired enough to sleep through it anyway.

I already mentioned the lovely meal we had at O Sole Mio before coming home, think we'll go there again in a few weeks on our next visit. The run back was fine too, we made it in time for swimming, so while Clare went in there with Number one son I took a nice walk home along the seafront with number two son. Here's a picture of the walk home, well why not:

This week is a bit disrupted so far, had the surprise WFH day, then got a day off for Number one son's sports day, then my regular WFH day, then before you know it will be the weekend again...
