Blog2014 ≫ Home tech failures

Had a couple of failures the last few days, realised my energy monitor was not working (oh yeah posted this last night) but also my original Linkstation NAS that has all the music on is being problematic too, it's disappeared off the network. It is all duplicated on two other drives so I'm not too worried, but it's still annoying. What if I'd wanted to put some music on when our friends came round this afternoon? I'd have looked like a musicless fool whose xbmc based entertainment system was just not fit for purpose. Luckily number two son was glued to Numberjacks while they were here so there was no chance of anyone else getting a request in anyway.

Will investigate that NAS. I have plenty of room on the other 3TB raided NAS where all my TV and films are right now.

Speaking of films I watched The 39 Steps last night, it does seem to diverge a lot from what I remember of the book. I should read it again soon.

xbmc: XBox Media Centre, some code that would run on an old xbox or other computer hardware to play movies + music etc. I used to talk about this a lot...
