Took a day off yesterday. I have been saving some emergency days for most of this year, and now we're at the end of the holiday year I thought I'd give one of them an airing. First we took number two son swimming in Folkestone (Number one son being at school of course). Not in the sea but at the sports centre. First attempt we could not get in as there was a school party in, but if we came back at 10am we'd be good, so we headed for a coffee. I had spotted Manifest in the Old High Street so we gave that a try. It's a bit cool, not a cafe definitely a coffee destination though. I liked it, good luck to this new venture. They are doing coffee tastings, so [fg=manifest]check them out[/fg].
We went back for the swimming, and number two son loved it. Very quiet in there, it was "ladies only" in the main pool, so Clare did a couple of lengths but I was not allowed.
Then home for lunch, but as the car was grumbling a bit I called Zanchi Motors to see if they could take a look. I had to drop it in right away, so I delayed lunch and went there, then walked back to the bus station... which is right by The Firkin Alehouse! Well it'd be rude not to pop in on my day off. They have just been voted "CAMRA branch pub of the year". Even though it's not really a pub. It's a great place though, a nice quite spot to finish my book1 with a couple of pints of local real ale. I got the bus home, and arranged for Clare to go back and pick the car up later. Turns out it only needed a service, it was grumbling at being neglected, new spark plugs and oil sorted it out.
A lovely day off.
