I probably should have just got a couple of these1 from maplin2, for less than I paid for my new drives and enclosure, and then sorted out the synchronising myself.
UPDATE: After all that they were waiting for me when I got in. In the house, not thrown in a hedge or anything. Configuring 6TB of storage now!
