Blog2013 ≫ Great weekend

That week went fast, and that weekend went fast too. Number one son and Clare had a great time at Lapland, and number two son and I had a good day at home. Well mostly at shops. Here's Number one son:

Saturday was a bit of a frantic day really, I had to be up quite early because they were leaving for Lapland fairly early. I treated number two son to a trip out to B&Q where I got another LightwaveRF PIR for the hallway and a few other DIY bits. Same weekend my LightwaveRF relay arrived, not decided what to do with that yet - I was thinking the upstairs lights + extractors but we'll see. Might make sense to do kitchen or playroom lighting instead though, you need the relay instead of a normal dimmer switch for the non dimmable LED bulbs. I started replacing the downlighters in the playroom - there are eight of them, so 8 x 50w is a lot of energy every time the room is used - I'm going down to 1.4w leds making the room practically free to light. Unfortunately these bulbs are a tenner for a packet of three, so I am just too cautious to do the whole room at once (pfff, 30!!!) but they'll all be replaced over the next few weeks. I've done the kitchen (six bulbs) and though I was worried about it being a bit dim to start with, I think it's fine.

As with the wvc54g Linksys wireless camera I have decided not to throw out the monitor I have going spare, but I've also decided against the DIY projector below - I've seen a good idea for a wall mounted raspberry pi showing just a calendar, will be great for the kitchen. It could do with being touch screen - this will not be - but it's a good (almost free) compromise.

Sunday afternoon we had a lovely christmas party with the NCT crowd, back at the Grand Hotel again.

Also I got new solid oak throne seat, so I can sit in luxury. (Yeah, toilet seat).

raspberry pi: Credit card sized super cheap computer, awesome.
