The exclamation mark there is more one of "I can't believe I'm repeating the same old thing again" rather than any genuine excitement, I don't really go in there. Sandgate's Bar Vasa (sometimes just called Vasa) has a big banner outside saying "under new management" and they're hiring again. I don't know who has bought it, but I'd like to think it's just the first sniff of sunny weather has made it spring back to life again.
This is my site The 'Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when I first came here in approximately 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that but I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get nowadays. This site was updated more frequently with a calendar of events and voting for best venues + things, + I know it was a handy resource for those who were thinking of moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though just a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was just about to. I am not Gerald by the way, the name comes from a pretend newspaper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, + how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald.
