The Fisherman's rest is rubbish and I won't be using that place again, decided to pop in for a drink last weekend (3rd May) with my wife and friends, only to be told very rudely by the Landlord to leave as it was a private function. The place looked open as usual, with no one stopping you from going in, he made you look as if you had just gate crashed the function. So to all who like a local pub with some atmosphere and friendly staff, avoid the Fisherman's as it's crap.

This is my site The 'Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when we first moved here in approximately 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a few years before that but I am technically one of those DFLs you get nowadays. The site was a lot more dynamic with a calendar of events and voting for favourite venues + things, and I hear it was a useful reference for those who were moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only to Hythe) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as Folkestone itself is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was about to become. My name is not Gerald BTW, this comes from a fake newspaper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald.
