Who on earth has a site called injury watch1..?

An investigation is under way after a cable slide at a children's adventure playground snapped, sending an 11-year-old boy falling to the ground.

The accident happened on Tuesday afternoon at the Lower Leas Coastal Park Fun Zone, in Folkestone, Kent. The youngster was taken to hospital with injuries to his face.

Police said it appeared the zip line's metal cable snapped. Shepway Council, which runs the park, said the Health and Safety Executive had been informed.

A council spokeswoman said: "We had our health and safety officer and the park manager down there after the accident, and we will be speaking to the equipment manufacturers."

This is my website The Folkestone Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when I first moved here in approximately 2004. I had been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that but I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get nowadays. This site was updated more frequently with a gig calendar + voting for favourite places + things, + I know it was a useful resource for others who were moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as Folkestone itself is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was about to become. I am not Gerald BTW, the name comes from the name of a pretend paper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do get in touch if you have anything to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
