The Sound Lounge?

FG ≫ 2006 ≫ The Sound Lounge?

What was / is The Sound Lounge then? This case study from CABE1, regarding the building of the SAGA HQ in 1998 mentions it. Did it come and go? Or is it now known by another name?

Already there are early signs of success. On the harbour is Chummy's seafood stall. Strange Cargo, a carnival and celebratory arts company is established in its offices and gallery in the Old High Street. The Sound Lounge, a music venue, has recently opened in Tortine Street. The Metropole Arts Centre provides a focus for the visual arts and acts as a motor for the creative quarter, the plans for a new sculpture park on The Leas and the burgeoning Folkestone Literary Festival.

This is my site The Folkestone Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when we first moved here in approximately 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a few years before that but I am technically one of those DFLs you get nowadays. The site was a lot more dynamic with a calendar of events and voting for favourite venues and things, and I hear it was a useful reference for others who were moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though just to Hythe) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we always thought it was about to become. My name is not Gerald BTW, this comes from a pretend paper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are GRATE aren't they? Do get in touch if you have anything to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on the twitter.
