Folkestone Bandstand campaign wins award

FG ≫ 2006 ≫ Folkestone Bandstand campaign wins award

"Reporter Amy Woodland and the Folkestone Herald were also successful, taking home the Campaign of the Year Award, for their successful efforts to renovate the bandstand in Folkestone" says hold the front page1...

This bandstand campaign was started in MYSTERIOUS circumstances, with notes apparently left on the bandstand saying things like "help me", "don't let me rust away" etc... MYSTERIOUSLY these were then reported in The Herald, which then started its own campaign to save the bandstand.

This is my website The Folkestone Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when I first came to Folkestone sometime in '04. I had been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that so I am technically one of those DFLs you get now. This site was updated more frequently with a calendar of events + voting for best venues and things, + I know it was a useful resource for those who were thinking of moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though just a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was just about to. My name is not Gerald by the way, the name comes from a pretend newspaper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do get in touch if you have something to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on the twitter.
