Decided to sort out a work page today that was taking 15 seconds or so to load, that's not good! This is only on one project, and it's one I'm not working on any more, but it's still not good to know something I've written is so crappy... it's not huge graphics or just lots of code, it's a CGI, and it's taking a while to do a lot of processing and database lookups and things. I'm using the same code on other projects, and it's fine, split second stuff, but on this one project there's a lot of data to be ploughed through... so very pleased to have got it down to 4 seconds now, with debugging all in place... it's sure to break something else somewhere else, but for now I'm leaving it, and celebrating with a beer, at my desk! Been awarded a big bottle of Grolsch from the party supply, and as it's party day today, I think I'm OK drinking it here. Party starts in an hour or so for staff, and then guests arrive an hour later when we're right royally pissed, and then an hour or so after that I'm off, heading down to Portchester for the weekend...

Got me some more icons from around the place, for the Folkestone venues page on folkestonegerald.com. How's about pool and real ale and wifi and food... Still looking for a better guitar though...

Cheers!
