Blog2004 ≫ 73 RIP

PR time1 was in full effect friday night, so we ended up missing the Fighting Cocks, sorry charlie. Gossips is a fairly grotty place, but with atmosphere, and the evening had the feeling of a fully fledged event. Too late for these bones so, an hour and a half after they were meant to be on, we headed home.

Really disappointing pizza in Ask before the show, perhaps it was the general air of sadness across London that affected the flavour; Friday was the last ever day of the 73 Routemaster. We hoped we could get home on one for one last time, but everyone else had the same idea, so there was no jumping on the back of one at Euston. The conductress was defending her position, the groaning red beast (the bus) was bursting at the seams. We got a 476 as far as Stoke Newington Church Street, though it seemed every 73 had been put back into service for one last journey, so we jumped onto one for the last couple of stops. Very moving, no really, people were cheering and taking pictures (of the busses, not us).

Yesterday went to a wedding, and Nigella Lawson was also a guest, what heady showbiz circles we do move in. It all took place at the Royal Inn on the Park, Hackney, and it was catered by Chennai Dosa, ace and just about all vegan to boot, a few clearly marked fish choices.

Lazy day today, watching Going Straight and maybe Fresh and Wild for lunch...
