Blog ≫ 2026 ≫ Great day in London

We got a very busy 10am train in to London, and walked past my work to the Enigma Escape Arcade in Holborn, all exactly as planned. Bit of a dull walk on a Saturday, no people about, and Leather Lane is deserted. It looks so wide when there are no market stalls there.

Everyone enjoyed the escape arcade, and we did quite well. We'd do it again, and we might even remember which rooms we'd go back in and which to avoid. I have been twice before and didn't really remember which ones were good. They're all quite good. This time we did eleven games, which I will split into three categories

Definitely do again, satisfying and high scoring:

Maybe do again, once we got the knack:

Probably avoid next time:

Twenty One was our highest scoring by far, it's quite easy once you work out better to do by trial and error than to actually do the maths. The Library we said we'd go back to, but we ran out of time.

After this looking for a pub between Holborn and Covent Garden. We've never walked past so many pubs without going in! Every one we liked the look of turned out to be a Sam Smiths, or had no suitable beer. We ended up at Craft Beer Co, which wife thought I didn't like last time, but this time was great. They have such a huge range of beers. We sat, ate crisps, and played cards. We tend to skip lunch on these days.

After this to Forbidden Planet. I thought I'd buy comics or a t-shirt but I didn't, too much choice, nothing grabbed me. T2 bought three manga books, but somehow lost them before we got home. We think he left them on the train, doh! We'll try Southeaster lost property. And actually I've just submitted a lost property report, hope we hear back.

After the comic shop to Stratford, and some shopping. Still nothing for me, but then to The Cow for another beer and then to Figo for a delicious Italian dinner, and from there home. A lovely day.

Light rain showers and a moderate breeze, 9 - 12℃.
