Blog2026 ≫ I think the Bell is _not_ closing

I said the other day that I'd heard The Bell in Hythe was closing. When I walked past on Sunday there was a sign saying under new management, newmenu coming in October. So not closing I think.

Decided not to go to work tomorrow as feeling slightly under the weather, but I am on call today. Volunteered to cover for someone before starting to feel a bit rough. Already got a load of calls at lunchtime when some other department's system went down, so hopefully that's it. Could do without getting woken up in the night. If I do get woken up in the night though there's an extra payment for that. With the payment for being on call anyway and the money saved by not going into London I am slightly up this week.

I need to be a lot more than slightly up if the university finance webinar we went to this week is anything to go by. We had a wake up call of how much it's going to cost. Did I already report this here? When T1 goes his fees will be about £10k a year, which he has to get the student loan to cover. Then he can get a maintenance loan for food and accomodation etc of about £7k a year and it's going to cost at least double that, so we will be stumping up the rest. I said he needs to keep practising the guitar so he can give other people guitar lessons when he gets there, that is one way of making some pocket money.

Until then I will be mostly selling stuff. I don't think I'll raise anything selling this treadmill though, it's too old now. Anyone want a kidney? One careful owner.

Partly cloudy and a gentle breeze, 13 - 20℃.
