Gig day finally came around. after at least five years of waiting to see faster pussycat it's here!
Busy train to London. All eight seats in the little block I sit in taken. Sure I wrote this somewhere else can I copy it? Maybe I'm misremembering last week. I did say this
Realise I'm on the wrong train! Sort of. I'm a Thursday person, it's Tuesday, there are different people here. I got my usual seat, but it's probably someone else's seat on a Tuesday. No dogs or babies but the spectacular spider woman is opposite.
You might remember spiderwoman from last week, a spider crawled out of her laptop and she ran down the carriage.
Work fine, except someone had thrown away the expensive airport chocolates I brought in last week. I deliberately got individually wrapped things so this wouldn't happen.
Got out of work on time and walk fast to hostel. Checked in, I have a room in the basement this time, not stayed there before. Bottom bunk which is a plus. Left only my tote bag with toothbrush and earplugs in the bed and walked to meet Andy.
Realised we were both walking the same way to Camden so coordinated by the medium of phones and stopped in a bar near mornington crescent / Camden palace called Phoenix Camden. Nice looking place with music and comics poster decorations and games consoles, but only "craft" beer. From there we looked for food, box park by Camden Town very quiet. No real ale in the Bucks Head. Walked up Camden parkway instead and back into Temple Of Seitan. Good vegan burgers, then to The Spread Eagle for a proper beer at last.
Got to Camden underworld not to long after opening and it was packed. A sell out. Three bands on, first were Femme Fatale also from the 80s. At least the singer was, with a new band. Good, impressive, went down well. Second band were Blacklist Union, newer but still in the hair metal style and singer was partner of first bands singer. Efficient touring arrangement. I'm sure they also shared a bassist with Femme Fatale. Both singers came on to do a cover of Jackson by Johnny Cash and June Carter which was good.
Finally Faster Pussycat. Or at least Taime Downe, and a drummer and bassist who could possibly be from the 80s and then two younger guitarists. They did all the songs, in the right style, great. Glam rock singalong. Basically no new stuff which was ideal. They came on to Born To Be Wild and went off to a few licks of Ace Of Spades, awesome.
We ducked into The World's End after the gig but they'd called last orders and it was dead. Tuesday.
We walked back tour or respective hotel and hostel and called it a night. Briefly tried Andy's hotel bar but it was closed.
I woke up about 4am for the loo and ws out of there again by 7am. Out of the hostel I mean, I wasn't stuck in the loo all that time.
Work fine again today, mostly meetings. No one bidding on my vending machine then. It is getting views and had two watchers, but I suspect it is my friends. I have more than two friends, I suspect it is two of my friends.
Partly cloudy and light winds, 12 - 19℃.
