Got a call out of the blue from RP Garage in West Hythe. They've had the beetle since November 2024 I think. We've spoken a couple of times, but they were in no hurry to do it and I was in no hurry to get it back. This suddenly changed! The garage has been sold, they need to clear out, can I come and get it? Good news, some work has been done on it for the MOT, windscreen wipers, brakes. It is driveable. But how safe is it? I am about to find out. Oh, better news, they are charging me NOTHING for this. What great guys! I have been thinking "I'll get it back then get rid of it", just been waiting until I had the money for what I assumed would be a thousand pounds plus bill...
I'm going to collect it on Monday, drive it off their premises. Maybe I'll prepare a "broken down" notice in advance in case I have to leave it by the side of the road. Then what do I do? take off the number plates, file off the VIN, and run? Hmm people round here know me and that car. I'll come up with a plan.
Work going ok today, and went ok yesterday. I ought to be able to leave on time and go to the pub.
I am pretty tired as I didn't have my usual 9pm bedtime, had to collect T1 from a party in New Romney. But I'm ok, going to have lunch, have had a few coffees, going to have lunch, finish off this work, and start convincing myself it is basically 5pm...
