Blog2026 ≫ Another action packed day (part two)

Shopping delivery put away now. There were no frozens this week, freezers broken down somewhere.

Where did I get to..? T1 met us in the Mudlark near London Bridge. They had rugby on, we saw England destroying Fiji and then some of Scotland getting beat by South Africa. Then a quick walk in the extreme heat to be only a few minutes late to meet friends at Wahaca. That was a tasty dinner, but very hot in there too. We were upstairs in the South Bank Wahaca, it's basically a shipping container, and it was boiling. Good food though. Then on to Royal Festival Hall for The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust - "David Bowie’s defiant fifth album is reimagined in incandescent fashion by David McAlmont, Brian Molko, Camille O’Sullivan, Peaches and Nadine Shah", it says here. We had similar seats to where we were for Suede last time, and I would say this show was OK. The boys didn't hate it, that was good, but we thought it was kind of average. It was good to hear the album performed by a full orchestra, but it wasn't a classical version of it or anything, it was authentic sounding. The guest artists were OK. They took turns working through the album, then came back on to do some greatest hits, including Space Oddity that you can see from someone with better seats here. This probably demonstrates that it was the vocals that were the weakest link. Nice enough though, and a good focus for our day out.

We got the slow train back, as it worked out. No need to flog it across london and risk just missing a fast train. We were by Waterloo, so got drinks and snacks and then a longer journey home. At least we were sat down, and ready to watch the football. We watched most of the first half on the train, then the last few minutes before half time in the taxi. Taxi driver was also watching on his phone while driving, hmm. Then the second half at home, good result! On to the semi-final against a lucky-to-be-there Argentina.

Now I'm up for badminton. Wife has walked to fetch the car. Time for the boys to get up.

Still got the holiday money in my current account, need to do something with that. Think I don't need to pay anything until after pay day this week, so Im still in the black even allowing for that coming out. Probably should have put it in shares this week, there was a dip, I bought the dip, they recovered. If I'd done that with the whole holiday fund that would have been a nice little day-trading profit. Equally I might have lost I suppose.

There was free energy again yesterday, and I timed the washing to come on while we were out to make the most of it, nice! Sign up here to join Octopus Energy 1.
