Blog2026 ≫ Spend my small premium bonds win on more luggage?

Small premium bonds win today, that's a nice way to spend a bank holiday day off. Only £50 this time, not the whopper I had last month, but still better than nothing.

In lending wife's terrible wheeled case to friends I remembered how terrible it is and I want rid of it. I see Eastpak do a bigger version of what we have and there is a deal on some prices, and the cheapest one matches the colour of one of our small cases. I can't not get it really can I?

Prize day good yesterday, at least Legend from Gladiators was acknowledged this time. Maybe next time he'll be there. Oh and also nearly as exciting as that, one of ours was acknowledged. As well as the GCSE prize we knew he was getting, he got a special mention from the head for his GCSEs. This makes it sound like he was in the top three of the school, very impressive.

After the ceremony and the cake, we walked into Hythe, first a look in The Three Mariners. It looked very tempting, real ale and a real fire lit, but nothing on offer for the wife. So round the corner to The Hope, where it was very busy and the beer was worse (had to send one back) but a good compromise. It's a popular spot with what seems to be an unusual crowd. Are they mostly holiday makers?

Then to meet the boys for dinner in the relatively new Italian, Azzure. Nothing marked vegan on the menu oddly, I had heard this, but they had a few dishes. They say the "creamy" risotto is, hmm, I went for the penne arrabiata instead, with side salad, and some bread and oil to start. The other food was good, al forno meatballs, a pizza, and a lasagne. A nice place, though I did feel a bit chilly in there. Next time a table further from the door.

Wife drove us home and we watched Young Sherlock. Well I watched it, everyone else has given up on it. I know it's not great but I'm enjoying the atmosphere of it, the glamourised Victoriana. I might get a bowler hat.

Another day off today, not much to do. Wife going to lunch with a friend so figuring out if I can take the boys somewhere. Don't think they'd really want to though.

Cooper Temple Clause exactly twenty five years ago today, quite a good gig. Unusually for a gig of this period I can be confident I have got the date right, and I was actually there. I have written proof I was planning to go, and then a brief review of the event the next day. I wish I had this for all of them. I wonder who that solo act supporting them was?

Light rain and a fresh breeze, 8 - 13℃.
