Blog2026 ≫ Camden gig success

Work day for me, got lift to the station and successfully commuted in. Looked a bit hairy at first, lots of people bundling round the good place to stand, but I got my preferred seat. Is it weird to have a preferred seat? I don't think so if you are a regular commuter, or even an irregular like myself.

Work fine, busy, hectic in fact. In calls right through lunch, so had my falafal wrap from Leather Lane on my own, then a few more calls, then a slightly late escape.

Met T1 and friend at St Pancras and we got the tube to Camden. First to check out the venue, The Electric Ballroom, so they know where to go. Already a huge queue nearly two hours before the show. Five Guys tea for them, then I left them to go join the queue when ready and I went for a beer at the Spread Eagle. Very nice pub and very nice beer. Then I went to check on them in the queue, they were in position but the queue went right round the block. Why the queue? Everyone had tickets? Was there an advantage to being in first?

Once they'd gone into the gig I found a pub, The Buck's Head. I had walked past it a lot of times but don't remember going in there. Was good, some real ale on, a comfortable place to sit, and a menu in tempting reach with good vegan options. So, while my original plan was to go to the cinema or something, I just sat in this pub, eating, drinking, reading Private Eye, until T1 called me to say they were surprisingly out on time.

Turns out there was an advantage to being organised, the vinyls were all sold out by the end of the gig so I did not get one. T1 got himself a t-shirt and also came away with some good photos, including some with the support band. Good souvenirs.

We made the good train home, though the tubes tried to scupper us by closing the Bank branch of the Northern Line. Went to Euston and walked up from there.

Met a friend on the train and shared his cab so easy journey home. Now have to get up early to run to get the car though before parking restrictions kick in. And then work starts again.

Man it's windy out there now.

50Kph winds and heavy rain, 8 - 10℃.
