A little later than I did last year, and a lot later than everyone who does this "unwrapped" lark on Spotify. I mostly don't use spotify, unless it is on the kitchen radio like we did last night. Here's what last.fm says I listened to in the last year:
After the confused mess of last year, and indeed every year, this is probably more representative of what I really listened to. No podcasts or tracks accidentally caught in a loop, but "Doctor Who theme tune" would have been in there as track three somehow. Just from watching TV of course.
I think The Darkness are probably under represented there. I listened to the album a lot on vinyl and for some reason my phone only picks up on me putting the album on and then the first track, it doesn't log all tracks on the album. I guess because the phone goes to sleep or something. If I listen to music on the phone it logs it all. There would probably be more Suede in there for the same reason. I got a Pulp album for christmas on vinyl too, Different Class, but haven't played it yet because the record player had to be unplugged and moved for the christmas decorations.
Top ten bands are also all quite familiar and representative of the "nothing too modern" nature of my listening.
Radiohead got a big boost this year because of all the revision I did of the recent albums before we went to see them.
Just recently I have been trying to listen to more new music, so maybe we'll see a difference this time next year.
Happy nerd year everyone.
