Went to Hythe last night just to meet up with friends, at their house. Tuesday night, our normal pub was not open. Made plans to a) go back there today, and b) go to a more distant pub in January, when I am not drinking and can drive. This was wife's suggestion actually, her dry january will not be quite as dry as mine.
Got up early today and out for a run! Finish strong! I will do anything for a badge, there is an achievement to unlock by doing an activity on the last day of the year. Looks like I have done that for the past seven years. Was icy out underfoot, so not ideal, but lovely and bright and still, no wind, so in those regards absolutely ideal. I will be doing another one tomorrow, will see what the weather brings.
One of my simple pleasures is getting up early in the morning on a cold day and finding the heating is on. We don't have radiators on in the bedroom so I discover this when I go to the bathroom. But not today, I had changed the heating schedule to drop the acceptable temperature while we were away over christmas and forgot to set it back. All fixed now. Google Nest themrostat should work out we are away and do it for me but I'm not sure it does.
Going back to Potting Shed today meant taking a last minute afternoon off. It'll be fine there's nothing going on and I have loads of holiday.
Wife and T2 have booked their flights to Norway! T1 and I not going as he can't skip school. It's a country none of us have been to though so this will cause some rivalry... will see if I can get he and I to Norway as soon as possible. Actually I have to take more time off at half term...
Thirty-five years ago today I was seeing Love/Hate at the Marquee club in that London. They were my favourite band of the time, and that night they were to be overtaken by Atom Seed who supported, then they were my favourite band and I saw them many times. I'm sure I don't have a record of all the times I saw them which is a shame. They're a fairly obscure band, didn't make it as big as they should have, so there are not so many records of their gigs.
Sunny and a gentle breeze, -2 - 5℃.
dryanuary: Not drinking for all of January.
