Blog2025 ≫ Amazing gig

Just back from a fantastic trip to see Radiohead at the O2, what a great gig and what a great time!

I met T1 at the train station and we headed up to meet wife who was already in Stratford. We're a bit tight for time, we have a schedule, and so of course our train broke down at Ashford. Changed trains, got to claim some delay repay. She headed direct to the hotel in Greenwich, and we caught up eventually. From the hotel to The Pilot, a pub we'd been to before, it's on the street where they filmed the Blur Parklife video. Lovely dinner of ravioli for me, a pie and a burger for the other two, and to the O2.

We had to go to a special entrance with our tickets where we could pick up some merch. I'm not saying it was free merch, because of the premium on the tickets, but it wasn't costing us any more than we'd already paid. We nearly didn't bother going out of our way to get it, but glad we did. It's a weird furry Radiohead tote bag, a "hard pass" on a lanyard, a little book, a ball, and strangest of all a Radiohead umbrella. T1 also got two t-shirts at the actual merch stand, and we took out two mortgages to buy a round of drinks. Then in to our seats...

I cannot imagine anyone in the place had better seats than us. We were on the front row of seats right in front of the stage on one of the sides. The stage was "in the round" so we were pretty close, just looking over the lower section of standing people. We were close to where the band walked in through the crowd too, so got a good view of that. The stage setup was really good, I'd heard there would be screens that would raise up and down. The band did the first song behind this translucent screens that had live projections on them, so really good visuals and you could still see the band.

Then the screens went up, and the band performed all round the stage.

The set list:

Then a break, but we knew pretty much what to expect from the encore as they'd been doing a mostly predictable set on alternating nights:

The band seemed to be having a great time, there was a lot of smiling and dancing. My pictures mostly terrible but the wife's better:

Nice not to have to rush at the end, just back to our hotel. Couple of drinks in the bar to debrief and investigate our merch. Up for breakfast and back to Stratford for a good day of shopping. A pint of real ale in The Cow, a late lunch in Wagamama, and home.

Partly cloudy and a moderate breeze, -1 - 8℃.
