Blog2025 ≫ Holiday 2025 - Munich (bonus stop)

Still not completed writing up Vienna (of our grand eurotour holiday 2025) but as that is partly done on another computer I can't continue it here. I can start writing about Zurich. I can start before that with the slightly ropey journey there...

We left Vienna slightly late, so our train was up against it all the way there. We did have reserved seats this time, so no danger of being moved at least. We were about fifteen minutes late leaving I think, and we only had about twenty minutes to change trains in Munich. Would we make up the time along the way? Would our connection wait for us? Spoiler: no, no it would not. A helpful man on the train tried to tell us how to find other connecting services that we could make to carry on our journey, but he didn't quite understand how far we were going. So after we left the final stop before Munich, and could see we've definitely missed the connection now, we booked reservations on the next train, two hours after ours was supposed to depart. We had to pay another twelve euros for this, and we had probably paid hundreds of euros for this journey anyway, so I think I can get some of that back. I must remember.

We had nearly two hours to kill in Munich then. Not long enough to shop for the fridge magnet the wife wanted, but long enough to get a couple of beers and some chips in a nice pub / restaurant near the station.

It counts though, this was another country ticked off on our holiday. We'd all been to Germany before, so not a new country, but still.
