Went out for a friend's dinner last night, to Rosemont, in Folkestone. Hadn't been before, it always looked a bit fancy for me. And it is, upscale Turkish. Like Aspendos but a bit shinier. Very nice though, I was impressed. I had Zeytinyagli Fasulye to start Mediterranean style marinated seasonal Green Beans served with Mediterranean Bread and then Mucver for a main Zucchini Fritter, Fruity Couscous, Hummus and Salad. The boys had desserts too but mine was surprisingly filling seeing as it looked to be mostly salad. It was actually hiding a bed of hummus in there, and I had a lot of bread_. It's a nice setting, there are some lovely tables for two at the bar that I would like to go to next time. No booze for me, not drinking, but everyone else filled their boots. The birthday boy picked up the bill too which was a treat, I was dreading the awkwardness of trying to divide up a table of about fifteen.
After we went to The Radnor Arms, which was also a treat. I have not thought of it as a pub really since it opened in this format, it's a restaurant, and we've been a few times (including for Christmas day last year). But there is more just sitting and drinking room than I thought, round the back of the bar, and then there's even a secret room behind a hidden door behind that! The kids liked that.
Was able to drive home of course, then we watched Wednesday on TV, then fairly early to bed for me. Now I'm up way before everyone else again. We're off to Canterbury today for school supplies, ready for the new term. Including trying to buy trousers for T2 even though he's not coming with us.
After that I will be claiming back yesterday's not drinking by going to the pub with friends who could not come out Friday. I went to the Potting Shed on Friday anyway and had a great time. Nice as our holiday was (will I manage to write it up at all..?) it was good to be back in the land of real ale.
I'm going to try adding comments to all my photos first, then will be back here to summarise based on the photos after that. Probably won't write up as much detail here as I have done in previous years, just won't get round to it. Just can't seem to find the time.
Oh some free energy this afternoon too, will I be able to use that? Possibly timing the tumble dryer. Sign up here to join Octopus Energy 1.
Sunny and a fresh breeze, 14 - 20℃.
