Blog2025 ≫ Happy Birthday

We had our big joint birthday day out yesterday and it was great.

Up at a normal sort of time for a Sunday, opened cards, did not really do presents. Instead of gifts we were doing Race Across The World, a challenge across London. We did each buy a book though, both looking good, and I bought that Pac-safe bag that I thought would be good for holidays, and maybe for this day. But it's not ideal, it's going back.

Train up, pretty busy, to St Pancras, also busy. Then tube to Oxford Circus for some shopping, boughtt really quite a lot of new clothes for T1. He doesn't often see stuff he likes but we went in Urban Outfitters and he liked everything. Also got him some new jeans which I can collect this week after they have been adjusted to the right length.

Then to the start of the race. Or rather, a good pub near the start of the race. The Williams Ale And Cider House near Liverpool Street. Lots of real ale and cider on cask. I had a super sesion Table Beer to start and we played some cards while waiting for the start of our event.

Then the race itself. You have to use Whatsapp, which I don't have, but it didn't matter. Only one in the group needs to use it. This means you don't need to pay for everyone in your group, just pay for one. Bit odd. We paid four times for this. Then the first stop was a cafe (oh btw why not stop in, you get a discount) where you pick up actual props. Then there are walking clues to other locations. It's mostly very good. It took us to places we would not normally go, including Liverpool Street, and then other places I probably should not name in case it spoils it for anyone reading this.

We did have other enjoyable stops, I'll be back with those after work. We watched the first half of the football in one pub and then the penalty shoot out in the final destination while battling with another combination lock escape room type challenge. We ended up with a tasty Zizzi pizza and then a late train home. Tired today. And I have a full week of work, and I am primary on call so could get called any time out of hours.

Sunny intervals and a gentle breeze, 14 - 21℃.
