Blog2025 ≫ Super long weekend - to Portchester and Fareham

I said last night I would continue today, as we were about to watch a film. We did not, we watched Taskmaster instead.

Got to Portchester, lovely to see Mum and Dad. Still full of breakfast we didn't have lunch I think, but headed into Fareham. No Pokemon cards to be had but the boys got an arm full of old video games in CEX, and I got some spicy noodles in B&M. Fareham shopping centre was a bit sad and empty really, it's getting worse each time, I wonder if a place like this can recover.

Back to Mum and Dad's for a lovely vegetable chilli dinner with all the trimmings, and then we left the boys and Mum gave us a lift into Fareham. We were meeting friends at West Street Ale House, but who? Didn't really know who might turn up, but we had quite the full complement and a lovely time. Really good really clear real ale in there, and enough of the tasty fizzy keg for Clare and others. So nice to catch up with my friends in person. Who'd have thought we had so much to talk about and to catch up on when we speak most days on Signal? We had planned to go home again at half nine when the WSAH closed, that was Clare's plan anyway. When it came to it though she also wanted to stay out, so we went to the Lord Arthur Lee just a few doors along. It's no longer a Wetherspoons but it's not really very different, just a bit less busy. Lots of pool tables, maybe they didn't have all those before? And some pool on TV too. We spoke to a nice couple there who had been in the WSAH earlier, they have their own cider making busines.

We got an Uber home, but then extended the evening with a mix up, people had gone home with the wrong coats and so someone got driven back to our house to delivery Clare's coat and phone, and then take the coat that she'd taken back to another friend's house.
