Blog2024 ≫ The Wanderer returns

Our traveller is back from Ireland, we are very pleased. Though now I suppose we won't be watching a Marvel film every evening. She had a great time, and so did her dad, that was the point of the trip.

Glorious weekend here, I probably already said we took our lunch down to the beach on Sunday. Was very busy down there, seems like it must be mostly people from out of town. Back to rain again today, just a bit, but enough to make sure the weeds grow back again. I've put in an hour here and and hour there to try and keep them at bay, but a bit of the right weather like this and they'll take over again.

Work very busy, supposedly this project going live in three weeks. I have nearly everything I need now, but one key part missing. I've come up with a suggestion for how we can go live without it, but it's considered important enough to not go live without. So I might get a bit of breathing space.

A couple of hours of free energy today 1, which will come in handy. While Clare was away I cleared all the washing and ironing (and we usually have ironing hanging around for months on end, because of not needing the thing and not really having anywhere to keep it). She's brought back a caseload, so it's on an economy wash now, ready to go into the dryer when the free energy hours arrive at midday.

New home automation has not kicked in, I'm supposed to get an alert when the washing machine starts up, and then another when it finishes, with how much energy it used and what it cost. My plan to automate the new blinds in the bedroom did not immediately get shouted down! So I'll probably do that this weekend.

Both boys have exams this week. T1 is doing a GCSE on Thursday, just one early this year, he's quite relaxed about that. T2 has SATs which he's also very chilled about. He's already into the grammar school, this doesn't count for much for him, it's more for the school. School have laid on a free breakfast club for them, so he's gone in an hour early, so I have more free time before work. Time enough to do a bit more work.

I might go into London this Thursday now. Wasn't going to, but it works out with Clare being off that day. It's expensive but it breaks the week up.

Light rain and a gentle breeze, 11 - 15℃.
