Blog2024 ≫ Febrewery 26/24

After the washout of karting, the boys just wanted to get home, they did not want to stay out for dinner. Clare bought them pizza and ice cream to cheer them up and dropped me off in Hythe on the way home. I'd made plans to meet a friend, and I was weighing up where we could go, what pub my friend would want to go to, and how I could fit it in with my Febrewery challenge... It worked out perfectly, as he could not meet me for an hour, so I could go in two pubs that I otherwise would not talk him into.

The first was The Kings Head, a Shepherd Neame, and always avoided. But it was great! Beer was Shepherd Neame, but fine, I am warming to their nice weak Masterbrew. They had a good jukebox, rugby on the TV, and the food sounds good in there too. A mix of traditional pub and Thai. Just the one in here.

Next to The Butt Of Sherry, also one I only seem to go in during Febrewery, had a pint of Director's, and thought about food, it looks good in there. It was hearing someone on the next table order a vegan sharing platter that inspired me. But instead thought I'd hold off and we'd probably eat later. Friend met me in here, and then we moved on.

Then to The Three Mariners, and old faithful. We often sit outside at this one, but with the foul weather we were lucky to get a table by the woodburner, and had a few pints of Dark Star Hophead. Then to a curry at the Vinodhon, and then walked home and still not too late. A lovely afternoon and evening.

So my Febrewery list so far:

Running out of days now. Going out for one this afternoon hopefully when my other jobs are done. If I'd had a day out in London, or a trip to Portchester this month I would have smashed this. It is looking like a proper challenge though without going in some nearby pubs that I would rather avoid.
